Group classes
Group Puppy Class - Level 1
Learn about how to train your new puppy in a small group class environment, including basic manners, confidence building activities, helpful tricks, and more! Tailored content for each group based on each puppy's needs, and including managed one-on-one puppy interactions and helpful discussion points about common (& not so common) challenges with raising a puppy. Classes are opened based on demand, and are held at Chancellor Park Vet on Sundays.
Group Class - Level 2
This class will expand on the skills and activities covered in the level 1 puppy class, including recall, stay/wait, handling activities, confidence building and more. Two of the six weeks will almost exclusively focus on loose lead walking in a larger outdoor area, and the other four weeks inside. We will also cover some more advanced concepts like creating behaviour chains, alternative ways to reward our dogs as well as strategies to reduce undesirable behaviours. Classes are held on Saturdays at Waggy Warehouse, 188 Nicklin Way, Warana.
Leave it & Recall- Short Course
This four week course will alternate between recall and self-restraint activities like leave it, wait/stay, etc. The difficulty levels of the activities will be adjusted based on the skill levels of the dogs in class. The general aim for the class is to meaningfully improve the dogs’ & handlers’ skill in leave it and recall, as well as providing helpful information in terms of management, equipment, and other relevant tips. Classes are held on Saturdays at Waggy Warehouse, 188 Nicklin Way, Warana.
Tricks, Scent Work & Agility for Fun - Short Course
Think of this four week course as a hobby class for dogs. Ideal for dogs that are smart and active, it can strengthen the bond between human and dog, help with boredom and associated misbehaviour and increase their quality of life. A lot of tricks have additional benefits such as muscle stretching/strengthening and practical applications as well as being cute and fun. The agility for fun component helps to improve coordination and confidence, and scent work is an amazingly powerful activity to improve our dogs' quality of life. Held on Saturdays at Waggy Warehouse, 188 Nicklin Way, Warana.
Scent Work & Reactivity- Short Course
This class will be smaller (possibly 2 or 3 dogs, depending on size and type of reactivity) and will focus on teaching handlers and their dogs methods to create alternative, calmer reactions toward triggers as well as to help the dogs feel more confident and optimistic around these. The scent work/nosework component will be alternated with careful, gradual exposure to the dogs in the class (or other triggers) at a level where the dog is aware of the trigger but not convinced they need to over-react. Using nosework after a potentially scary experience helps the dogs to regulate their emotions and get back into the "seeking system" rather than "fight or flight", and is also great for increasing confidence and optimism in dogs.
